We are seeking a high energy candidate with significant transactional experience.  The ideal candidate is goal-oriented and thrives in a deadline driven environment.

JOB SUMMARY:

The candidate’s initial reasonability will be to lead the divestitures of projects under development (pre construction opportunities) and secondarily to originate new opportunities.

  1. Divestitures
  • Prepare offering materials for sale and/or project financing of battery energy storage and solar PV assets
  • Lead the outreach to potential project buyers by utilizing the candidate’s industry network, making new contacts and leveraging the company’s existing relationships
  • Manage data rooms to ensure timely and accurate delivery of project information
  • Support buyer’s due diligence process via prompt response to all inquiries and information requests (requires experience managing cross functional teams of peers)
  • Lead contract negotiations to ensure profitable and timely completion of assigned transactions
  1. Other Transactions (e.g. PPAs, Build Transfer Agreements and Tolling Agreements)
  • Serve as manager responsible for thorough preparation and timely submittal of high quality proposals for new contracts
  • Manage cross functional teams of internal (e.g. engineering, financial analysis) and external resources (e.g. consultants and advisors) to ensure accurate, timely and competitive submittal of proposals
  • In collaboration with the Sr. Financial Analyst, provide pricing recommendations, including assumptions and rationale to support the recommendation
  • Lead contract negotiations
  1. Weekly and Monthly Reporting
  • In collaboration with the Executive Vice President of Business Development, prepare weekly and monthly reports

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or other relevant area of study
  • MBA preferred
  • Five plus (5+) year’s experience in a similar role within the independent power, utility or renewable energy sector
  • Although not required, preference will be given to candidates with recent experience related to financial modeling involving tax equity partnership flip transaction structures and battery energy storage projects

Interconnection Engineer

Job Description: Interconnection Engineer

Reports to:  Director of Interconnection

OCI Energy is an industry leading developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale solar and battery projects within the ERCOT market. With a rapidly expanding portfolio of projects in MISO and other key North American markets, we are seeking a highly motivated Interconnection Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our organization’s growth while gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge renewable energy projects.

Job Summary:

As an Interconnection Engineer reporting to the Director of Interconnection, you will play a crucial role in the full lifecycle of utility-scale solar and battery projects. Your responsibilities will encompass all aspects of the interconnection process, including site selection, managing interconnection applications, performing power flow studies, and conducting economic modeling. You will also oversee the design, specification, scheduling, testing, and commissioning of projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Track, manage, and support the company’s project portfolio across all phases of the project’s lifecycle, ensuring effective communication with TSPs, ISOs, internal teams, consultants, and other stakeholders regarding interconnection studies, applications, tests, and other project needs.
  • Conduct power flow modeling, interconnection analyses, economic assessments, and utility coordination to identify optimal locations and sizes of future projects.
  • Perform transmission analysis to evaluate constraints, congestion, and curtailment risks of points of interconnection.
  • Assist with the review and negotiation of interconnection agreements, including technical exhibits and specifications.
  • Oversee preliminary design and development of single-line diagrams for interconnections.
  • Develop schedules and milestones in coordination with the master project schedule and EPC timelines.
  • Monitor engineering, procurement, and construction of interconnection facilities that are performed by contractors or utilities, and coordinate and lead related calls.
  • Attend ISO meetings and provide updates on projects or changes that may affect the project pipeline.
  • Assist in the registration of generators with utilities, RTO/ISOs and other regulatory agencies.
  • Support ISO, NERC, FERC, and other regional compliance efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • One to two plus (1 – 2+) years of experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • A self-starter with the capacity to work independently and deliver on key objectives.
  • Experience with PowerWorld, PSSE, PLEXOS, or other power flow and PCM software is preferred.
  • Programming experience, particularly with Python, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with interconnection processes, particularly within the ERCOT or MISO markets, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical concepts such as reliability, stability, congestion, curtailment, LMPs, etc. is preferred.
  • Substation design experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISOs/RTOs, TSPs, Developers, and other market participants is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is preferred.

O&M Operator

Job Description: Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Operator

Reports to:  Lead O&M Operator  

OCI Energy is a utility scale solar and energy storage systems developer, owner, and operator. We are seeking an experienced O&M Operator to provide support for a growing organization in a fast paced environment. This position is located in San Antonio, Texas and provides a perfect opportunity for a professional looking for interesting work within a small cohesive team, the ability to expand their experience and contribute to the corporation’s success.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision by the Lead O&M Operator, the O&M Operator will provide all aspects of on-site installation, monitoring, repair, maintenance, and modifications of OCI Energy’s portfolio of solar PV facilities.  Duties include monitoring operations, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying AC and DC solar PV systems, including substation, HV and MV transformers, switchgear, batteries, inverters, PV module arrays, trackers, and metering systems. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing field technicians and/or contractors to ensure safe, high quality and timely performance of maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee all remote, & onsite outages and related high voltage tasks to assure proper safety operation.
  • Closely adhere to all safety standards and procedures. Act as a safety role model, encourage and recognize others completing safe acts, and intervene when unsafe acts are being practiced. Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the operational environment, implement effective risk mitigation, and provide recommendations to higher level technical staff and management.
  • Independently initiate and perform most work tasks, as well as follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, executing plans as directed, and perform according to written and verbal instruction from higher level technical staff.
  • Effectively lead and train the service technicians, and contractors to enable successful management of all Service, Warranty activities on site.
  • Responsible for inspection, maintenance and repair of solar PV systems
  • Identifies problems and develops corrective action plans
  • Travel to project sites and vendor locations as assigned to perform all aspects of on-site installation, repair, maintenance, oversight, and modifications as required
  • Work directly with OCI Energy personnel and, as directed, third-party vendors to support project component (trackers, inverters, balance of plant equipment) installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
    • Participate in electric, mechanical and software component inspections, testing, repair, and troubleshooting.
    • Troubleshoot and perform tracker electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance.
    • Provide timely written review reports from field operation, status, and constructive feedback to supervisor as requested.
    • Communicate effectively with OCI Energy and third-party vendors and actively participate in meeting reviews to provide technical feedback of field operations.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and associated periodic meetings.
    • Support and oversee component manufacturing and all involved processes from raw material and parts procurement to onsite delivery.
  • Responds to emergency call outs
  • Ensure that all operations and maintenance activities performed at project sites complies with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) requirements and warranties
  • Supports implementation and interface of solar farm remote video and security systems.
  • Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders. Responsible for all required repairs, maintenance, and monitoring of all warranty claims
  • Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues.
  • Schedules support onsite and remote OSIsoft PI data management and storage systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in related technical field preferred
  • High voltage switching experience is preferred.
  • Must have a strong safety background with experience in lock out tag out and Job Hazard analysis.
  • Five plus (5+) plus years of demonstrated experience operating and maintaining power generation systems, preferably in solar technologies
  • Familiarity with power generation operations and maintenance requirements and execution gained through hands-on experience, preferably solar power generation
  • Industry/OEM certification for operations and/or maintenance of one or more of the following major components used in US and global solar power generation:  inverters; tracker systems; medium/high voltage electrical systems; and/or balance of plant components
  • Valid driver’s license and availability to obtain permit to drive official vehicles in the field.
  • Working knowledge of power generation equipment controls and SCADA systems
  • Highly experienced in using and understanding testing and diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to able to travel on short notice and be available during non-traditional working hours
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Project, Word and Outlook and proven ability to learn new software programs
  • Able to read, learn and understand technical drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions
  • Must be willing to take on other responsibilities outside of the regular job description and regular working hours as needs arise including weekends

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (includes but not limited to):

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work outside and withstand varied inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to display good manual dexterity in use of hand tools and test instruments
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, and climb for extended periods
